So how exactly does one write an about page that is not hopelessly awkward and pompous? I have no idea, but if you’ve made it this far you deserve an honest to goodness try…
My name is Alexis and I am a not a writer (I have a whole other, rather demanding, full-time professional job) but I am generally capable of stringing sentences together, so long as it is after 10AM. I also enjoy making things and completing DIY projects for my home. I don’t claim to be an expert on DIY or even that the DIY route is particularly thrifty, it isn’t always. But I don’t really do it for the thrift angle, I do it because I enjoy it, and because I am that much of a
controlling discerning personality that I would rather make my own thing than buy a thing that isn’t exactly what I wanted in some essential way.
As for design, I know
very little practically nothing about design, and I am ok with that. I know what I like when I see it, and I’ll probably never be the type of person to go out and buy designer furniture anyway. In terms of interior design style I am aiming for a mostly transitional look, I like the shapes and colours of contemporary design, but like elements of traditional design too, like matching chairs and a discernible colour palette.
With any luck you are still reading, and feel like this is something that may be interesting to you, in which case, welcome!
Disclaimer, aka the really boring stuff (you probably want to skip this section):
DIY projects involve power tools and chemicals and assorted other things you could conceivably hurt yourself with. If you decide to copy anything you see here use common sense and protective gear, and don’t try to hold me responsible if it all goes horribly wrong.
